Susan's Story..
I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I was just a girl from the Bronx NY who loved dance and loved teaching.
I started teaching my own classes in my parents' basement at the age of 18. I was never more happy than when I was teaching dance. At 19 yrs old I rented a Knights of Columbus Hall 3 days a week while getting my degree in dance. I remember my boyfriend at the time - who is my husband now, carrying in my Verifone record player - which weighed a ton, my box of records, and my ballet barre every day I taught there.
I had a cash box on a small table to take payments and my notebook with the list of kids in each class. I had very humble beginnings as a studio owner.
My first year I had 77 students. In my second year I had 203 students and outgrew my space. The third year I decided to get my own storefront and grew to a whopping 450 students. By the time the fourth year came, I had 900 students and was drowning in my own success.

I loved what I was doing but was exhausted from: teaching, writing lesson plans, choreographing, tracking payments, communicating with parents when there was no email, social media, or cell phones, planning recitals, doing the financial end of the business, writing copy for marketing and advertising, developing new programs for my studio - well you know what I mean.
- I was the chief cook and bottle washer.
- I missed having a life, seeing my family and friends, or staying awake when I did see them.
I needed to take control of my company instead of it controlling me...
And that’s just what I did!
I put systems in place, learned to hire and train amazing people & got my life back!
I continued to grow adding a second, third and fourth studio location. With thousands of students, I quickly grew to a multimillion-dollar business. I became the "Go To" Studio. Let's build your vision of a successful studio.
